Role of Recent History- EDSA Dos

 The Second Time Around 


The EDSA Revolution of 2001 also called by the local media as EDSA II pronounced as EDSA Dos. It was a four-day political protest that starts from January 17 to January 20, 2001. A peaceful overthrew of the government of Joseph Estrada. He was succeeded by his Vice President, Glorai Macapagal Arroyo. EDSA is an acronym derived from Epifanio de los Santos Avenue, the major highway that encircles Metro Manila. 



During EDSA dos ICT ( Information and Communications Technology) plays an important role. The mobile phone was the symbol of the People Power II Revolution in the Philippines. When Ms. Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo called Lt. Gen. Espinosa . On the other hand at that time mobile phones is usually used for texting rather than calls. The People Power II was arguably the world's first "E- revolution" a change of government brought about by new forms of ICTs.
